Heinrich Lang Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2023.
Heinrich Lang, husband, son, brother, father and grandfather, a proud US citizen, business executive, and inventor, passed away peacefully in his home on January 30, 2023. He was surrounded by family members and was 83 years old. Per his decision, his body was donated to the Willed Body Donation Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX.

The son of Josef and Marie Lang, Henry was born in Grosssichtefuer, Sudetenland and later displaced to the Frankfurt, Germany area during World War II. Here he grew up, went to school and studied at Adlerwerks as a toolmaker before immigrating to the United States in 1963. After a short time in the shipbuilding industry, Henry transferred into the oil & gas industry. During this time, he married his wife of 53 years, and moved to the Houston area where he quickly earned the reputation as a gifted mechanical engineer, receiving multiple patents in the field. Henry served in many sales and management positions during his time in Europe as well as the North Sea, Africa, the Middle East, and former Soviet Union.

Henry was known for his devotion to family, his joy for fishing and hunting, his appreciation for a good joke and for bourbon, his genius problem solving abilities and being a gentleman of his word. He was most proud of his contribution to the oilwell fire-fighting efforts in Kuwait post Operation "Desert Storm"; and his collaborative patent with Dr. Alan Ulert, of a circular artificial heart that is currently under development and nearing human testing.

Henry is survived by his wife Gunhilde "Sybille", sister Monika Prefi (Henner), cousin Cyndi (Rusty), two daughters Simone (Darron), and Nicole, and four grandchildren: Mason, Maia, Aviana and Willem. He also leaves behind numerous friends, respected colleagues, and treasured neighbors. He is greatly missed and will be remembered well.
