Helen Allmandinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2025.
Liverpool - Helen Allmandinger 102, of Liverpool, formerly of Freeville, died peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Helen met and fell in love with Walter, who came to work at the GLF (Agway) in Walton. They married September 18, 1943. Walt and Helen together managed a successful dairy farm for over twenty years, and then transitioned to the owning/operating of Ithaca Tire Co. for twenty more.

Helen graduated from Walton High School in 1940. For more than 30 years, she was a member of the staff at Cornell University, the majority as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Human Ecology.

One of Helen's greatest and most treasured "works" were her children, as well as their families as they grew. She encouraged, supported, and often organized activities and service opportunities. Home was the center of family celebrations where she made each one feel especially loved and, of course, cooked up a storm. The record number of Thanksgiving/Christmas pies is still a debate.

She was a member of the Caroline Valley Community Church for 80 years, serving in many ways as Sunday School teacher, superintendent, choir member, church secretary, part of the Willing Workers and great supporter of the Apple and Fall Festivals over the years.

Helen is remembered by her family with deep love and affection as well as great gratitude for all the many, many ways her life has blessed theirs. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter, and son-in-law, Robert Foster.

Those carrying on her love and legacy include her children, Linda (Robert) Graves of Liverpool, NY; Barbara Foster of Ephrata, PA; and Walter of Houston, TX; five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
