I was so sorry to hear about Mrs. Bird's passing. My sympathies to her family. My folks and Mr. and Mrs. Bird were good friends and I graduated with Cindy from CLCHS. I also took piano lessons from Mrs. Bird for several years and still enjoy the piano. My thoughts are prayers are with you all.

After MANY years of piano lessons with Mrs. Bird, she will always be remembered by our family. We will never forget her patience through our lessons, group lessons, writing scales, the holiday recitals at her house, playing with the fluffy cat through the railings, and how she would answer the phone "Bird House." Our thoughts are with your family.

Helen did so much to enrich our community. Her work touched many lives. She was one of the principal organizers or the "Monster Piano Concert" here that involved so many of our young pianists in a positive and unique event.
Helen was also very responsible for beginning the Crystal Lake Community Choir. It was Helen that suggested in 1986 that there be a choir formed to be a part of our Crystal Lake Fourth of July Gala. She helped to organize it, and continued to help the choir become and established community organization.
Her work for our community was done with little fanfare, always with a smile, a sense of humor and great love. Helen, you will be missed! Thank you for your gift of self.

It seems for ever that Helen was Phyllis Kirchberg's call contact when anything wonderful or tragic happened to one of the members of the many clubs they both belonged to, bridge, birthday and even the Knitwits. It saddened us to hear of her passing too late to share with the family during services. Although Helen will be greatly missed, we will always hold her dear in our hearts as she is smiling, singing, telling a few yarns while always loving her family and friends. God Bless you all, Phyllis and Candy Kirchberg

My sympathies to the Bird Family. I don’t believe I was as good at scales as Mrs. Bird always told me, but I thank her for the many years of piano lessons, I appreciate it.

I wish comfort for Helen's family at this time of loss. I will always remember Helen was an intelligent and vital person who was always quick to smile and share a laugh. She will certainly be missed at bookclub.

Years ago at the house on the lake Helen taught me how to read music and play the piano. Me being a typical kid, she explained that someday I would be thankful I practiced and took the time to learn. How true! I am thankful and have good memories of my time with her. My own children play today and I still use my old books (thank goodness for her notations!). My thoughts and prayers go to her family.

My condolences to the Bird Family. I never met Helen Bird, but thanks to an amazing composition written by one of her students (Margaret [Meg]Grzenia)for the Lincolnland Legends contest, I feel I did know her.
It is clear that Mrs. Bird's passing is a great loss not only to her family, but also to the wider community in McHenry County.
May God have mercy on her soul and bring her speedily into the radiance of His Beatific Vision.

Helen's insatiable love of music was instrumental in helping my own daughter develop her gifts. She is now nearly completing a degree in Elementary Ed/Music K-12. Helen was a gift and a treasure, a teacher, and a friend.
