Robert G. "Robbie" Owens, 48, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in a Georgetown Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Owens was born in Hemingway, SC the son of Gerald G. and Barbara "Bobbie" Kiesel Owens. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and obtained his BA degree from the University of South Carolina. He was the Director of Georgetown County 911 Communications Services. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and was affiliated with the National Weather Service of Wilmington, N.C. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan and he most enjoyed playing board games with his daughters
Mr. Owens is survived by his parents, Gerald G. and Barbara "Bobbie" Owens; daughters, Shelby Owens and Jaime Owens; Grandmother, Eva Pergram.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jamie Lee Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Union United Methodist Church, Georgetown SC. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Union United Methodist Church, 8209 Rose Hill Road, Georgetown SC 29440.
Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Erma Owens, 14104 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554 or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.

Motorola - Palmetto 800 will miss our interaction and relationship with Robbie. He was a terrific guy to work with. Many of us considered him a friend. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers go out to his family and friends for comfort during this emotional time.
