HELEN BROOKWELL Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 5 to Aug. 6, 2016.
It is with sad but loving hearts that we announce Helen's passing on July 21st, in her 84th year. Helen was surrounded by the love and support of her family during her nine weeks of hospital/hospice care. She was a one in a million person with a one in a million disease. Helen was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) in 2012, having celebrated 59 years of marriage. She is survived by her five children, Brian (Heather), Kevin (Cindy), Raymond (Sharon), Dave (Laurie-Lynn), Judy Molnar (Alex), grandchildren Mandy (Scott), Cody, David (Dianna), Danielle (Jamie), Kyle, Miranda, James, great-granddaughter Emersyn. She also will be missed by surviving brother Ted Bogner (Lorna), numerous special nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as a large extended "family" of people who called her Grammie. Mom was a treasured gift from God. Her laughter, hugs, a smile that could light up a room, her love of music and singing, her words of wisdom, the memories she created, and especially her love... these are the gifts she gave us. Helen's life truly made a difference that will be felt by others and will be remembered by so many for a long time to come. Funeral service will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church on Friday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m. 3104 - 34 Avenue NW. In lieu of flowers, donations to CJD Research: Office of Advancement, University of Alberta, 3rd Floor, Enterprise Square, 3-501, 10230 Jasper Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 4P6. All cheques should be made out to the "University of Alberta". Please include a letter/memo indicating "Department of Medicine - Centre for Prions Activity (Dr. Sim).
