Helen Dickerson Obituary

Helen Lamberson Dickerson, 82, widow of Donald D. Dickerson, formerly of State Street, Towanda, Pa., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007, at the Bradford County Manor, West Burlington Township, Pa.

Born May 11, 1925, in Towanda, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Frederick J. and Ida Robinson Lamberson.

Helen was a 1942 graduate of Towanda High School.

On Sept. 22, 1943, she married Donald D. Dickerson at the First Presbyterian Church in Towanda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on June 23, 2002.

In early years, Helen was employed by the North Penn Power Co. She was later employed by the First National Bank of Bradford County for 15 years, and by E.I. DuPont in Towanda for 18 years.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Towanda, and was a 60-year member of the church choir.

She was also a member of the Towanda Country Club, where she formerly served as president of the Towanda Country Club Women's Association.

Helen will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her love of singing and music.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Clark and Dr. Byron L. Clark of Lebanon, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip A. Dickerson and Ann Dickerson of Towanda and Thomas G. Dickerson and Pamela Dickerson of Towanda; a daughter-in-law, Karen Dickerson of Hallstead, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Frederica and Gary Dewing of Monroeton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, David L. Dickerson, on Dec. 8, 1999.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the First Presbyterian Church, Court Street, Towanda, with the Rev. Michael Hughes, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa., at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda.

There are no calling hours.

The family will provide its own flowers and requests that memorial contributions be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, 5 Court St., Towanda, Pa. 18848, or to the charity or organization of one's choice, in Mrs. Dickerson's memory.

I have fond memories of Helen from when we both worked at Du Pont. She was a fine lady and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I worked with her for many years at the bank and had high respect for her always. Plus, she was such a snappy dresser. We were sad to hear of her declining health over the past few years.
