Mary Helen Johnson Doss went to be with her Lord on September 27, 2024. She was born into a farming family in Webster County, MS on June 17, 1932. She obtained diplomas from Mathiston High School, and Wood Junior College, before graduating from Mississippi State College for Women in the mid- 1950's. She entered the professional world as a schoolteacher, before beginning her career with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service. As an Extension Agent she served at the county level and on the state staff as a specialist at Mississippi State College. After marrying the love of her life, Roy Doss, she moved to Tishomingo County, MS where Roy was employed as an Extension Agent. Helen quickly resumed her teaching career in Tishomingo County. In the mid 1960's she, Roy, and Derrell, her only child, moved to Aberdeen, MS. She continued her career as a teacher in the Aberdeen Municipal School Distinct, teaching the 5th grade for many years, before retiring in 1990. Helen was active in St. Mark United Methodist Church as a pianist, Sunday School teacher, choir member and serving on committees. She loved to entertain church and family members in her home, garden, cook, travel, fish, and was the official "watcher" in the boat as others water skied. She spent many happy hours engaging in the lives of her grandchildren and many others in the community.
