Died January 17, 2003 at TenderCare-Westwood. Helen was born April 17, 1918 in Hungary, the daughter of John and Victoria (Kosta) Vos. On June 26, 1937, she was united in marriage with Carl M. Fields Sr., who preceded her in death on August 19, 1982. Helen was a very active member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Kalamazoo, where she volunteered her time and talents, and was an adopted Grandma of several grade school classes at the elementary school. Helen volunteered at Borgess Medical Center, where she received a 2000 Hour Volunteer Award, and spent 10 years at Fontbonne Manor in Nazareth as a Dining Room Attendant from 1971-1981. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and was a fantastic cook. Helen was preceded in death by her half-brother, Balas Bertok. She is survived by four children, Carl Fields Jr. of Portage, Margaret (Richard) Der-hammer of Presque Isle, MI, Bob Fields of Portage, and John (Nancy) Fields of Kalamazoo; eleven grandchildren; six great-grand-children; a brother, John Wass; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at

where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Fr. Kevin Covert, Celebrant. Following the mass, food and fellowship will be shared at the church hall. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
