Helen "Joan" Satterfield

Helen "Joan" Satterfield, 88, took her rightful place in the arms of Jesus on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was born in Somerset, PA on October 11, 1934. Everyone who knew her knew she was a tough cookie, strong and mighty. She surely persevered through many trials with grace and dignity. In these last years, after the death of her husband, she found a new calling. She ministered to the men and women at Cardinal Retirement Village, where she resided, gifting many with beautifully crocheted blankets. She loved to bake and deliver warm banana bread to their doors with a cup of coffee. She lovingly prepared meals and would invite others to join her. She had such a servant's heart. She loved playing Bingo and she played to win! Joan loved to read. She never started a book she didn't finish. She was an avid bird watcher. She took great joy in tending to them through her many feeders. She was a unique woman who had the amazing capacity to love big. She will be so greatly missed but we are comforted knowing that in her final days, she accepted Jesus as her Savior and we will see her again. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dewey Satterfield and her son in law Bill Knapp. She is survived by her sister Janie, beloved children, sons, Michael (Daniela) Hyre and Jay (Kristie) Satterfield, daughter Dianna Knapp, grandchildren Amanda (Michael) Hunsicker, Tim (Sarah) Knapp, Ryan (Amanda) Knapp, great-grandchildren Laney, Gavin, Kylie, Kate, Peyton and William and many special friends at Cardinal Retirement Village, especially Dorothy Mason. A special thank you to Harmony Care Hospice who lovingly ushered Joan into her final days with grace and dignity and to all of those at Cardinal Retirement Village who cared so much for Joan and her family. We are so very grateful. Please join us to celebrate her life on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Riverwood Chapel, 1407 Fairchild Avenue, Kent, Ohio 44240. Her family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a service immediately following.
