Do have that one person who you always call when you have 10 minutes? The one who is always delighted to hear from you, yet requires no time to catch up? For me that was my Great Aunt Helen. In her 90's, living alone, she would grab a cocktail and tell me about the days when she was young—spending her days yachting, dressed fashionably, smoking cigarettes, head over heels in love with her husband. Number 5 on my speed dial list, I could always count on her to keep me company during my 20 minute walk to pick up my kids after work. The world lost a truly amazing broad this week, and I MISS her. I know you ran into the waiting arms of Uncle Steve somewhere in the afterlife, without even a glance back, rest in Peace Aunt Helen.

Dear Aunt Helen, I'm so proud and grateful to have had you in my life near sixty years. You were never shy to shoot straight with me or to affectionately call me bunny or dolly. What fun we have had over the years. I learned a lot from you, particularly when Uncle Steve was sick. I used what I learned to help Joe the best I could and was always grateful that you had provided so much guidance. Great memories of Mets games, lunch in the city, hanging out at your pool in Northport and driving you and Uncle Steve nuts with all my antics will stay with me forever. You were a driving force that I will remember always with love. Rest in peace dear lady. Cathy.
