Helen McOuat Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 19 to Sep. 21, 2009.
OBITUARY HELEN McOUAT (nee WRIGHT) After a courageous battle with cancer, Helen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family on Thursday, September 17, 2009. Beloved wife of Colin C. McOuat, dear mother of Barbara (Neil), Brenda, Ralph (Marie-France) and Beverly. Loving grandmother of Douglas, Adrienne, Colin and Angelina. Daughter of the late Austin and Sarah Wright of Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Predeceased by her brother Douglas who was killed in action in WWII. Helen and Colin were married for 57 years and Helen, throughout that time, was a driving force behind the McOuat family and the Lachute community. She was devoted to her family, her friends and her community. She has left behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and zest for life that is an inspiration to all. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Todd McConnell of St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Peter Metrakos and the Ross 3 team of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Dr. Greg Mitchell of the Lachute Hospital, and Helen's team of thoughtful caregivers. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Lachute United Church. This celebration of Helen's life will be preceded by visitation which will take place at the church beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Lachute United Church Women, 397 Main Street, Lachute, Quebec J8H 1Y1 or to the Lachute Residence Foundation, P.O. Box 844, Lachute, Quebec J8H 4G4. Arrangements entrusted to the J.P. MacKimmie Funeral Home, 660 Main Street, Lachute, Quebec.

Dear Colin,

I am so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I feel so badly for you, she was such a wonderful woman. It has been so many years since I saw the both of you, but will always remember her and your kindness to my family.

My mom just called tonight and told us she saw it in the paper on the Island.
She was so happy to have seen the two of you last year.

My prayers are with your family. Helen was a beautiful person. I'm thinking of you Colin.
