MIDDLEBORO - Helen (Murphy) O'Brien, of Middleboro, formerly of North Quincy, West Yarmouth and Padanaram, South Dartmouth, a professional dancer, passed away June 4, 2010, at the age of ninety-six. Beloved wife of fifty-two years to the late Walter J. O'Brien.
Loving mother of Karen and her husband, Bob Keohane of Lakeville; Walda and her husband, Bob Giallongo of West Yarmouth and Maureen O'Brien of Pompano Beach, FL. Sister of the late William F. Murphy, Jr., and Paul Murphy. Devoted grandmother of Stephen M. Keohane and his wife, Beth of Easton, Neal Keohane and his wife, Xing of Lakeville, Lauren Clough and her husband, Jeff of Osterville, and Gregg Giallongo and his wife, Deb of Carver. Great-grandmother of Alex, Josh, Connor, and Kylie.
At age nineteen, Helen danced as a Roxyette, a precursor of the Rockettes, at the Roxy Theater in New York City. For over thirty years, she owned and operated the Helen O'Brien School of Dance in Quincy and Braintree. She was the oldest student at Cape Cod Community College until age eighty-nine, taking classes for ten years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Friday, June 11th at Noon in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11 AM.
Donations in memory of Helen may be made to Hannah B.G. Shaw Home for the Aged Activities Fund, 299 Wareham St., Middleboro, MA 02346 or to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.

Karen, I will always keep your mom in my heart. She was such a wonderful person, always a joy to be around. I have many fond memories of both your mom and dad as we were growing up in North Quincy. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family.
