Helen Ramsay Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Apr. 2, 2011.

RAMSAY, Helen Norma Helen Norma Ramsay of West Vancouver, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 30th at the age of 84. Born on December 31, 1926 in County Down, Northern Ireland, Norma trained as a nurse before setting off with her lifelong friend Joan on a working trip to Australia and Canada. Intending to return home, she instead settled in Pender Harbour, B.C. when she met and married her husband Dana and started their family. Norma was a star field hockey and table tennis player and horse jumper in her younger days, and remained an avid sports fan throughout her life. Norma loved to read books and travel and was well known by family and friends for her great baking and her tales of her many adventures. Norma is survived by her son Dana; her daughter Helen and her daughter Megan; her son Bruce; her son Stephen and his wife Tammy and their daughter Kai; and her daughter Alison and her husband Jay and their daughter Kate. A celebration of Norma's life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
