It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Rose Sarcevich at the age of 89 years old in Montreal, Quebec on Dec. 30, 2016. Helen leaves behind her loving sister Desi Sisak (nee Sarcevich), sister-in-law Theresa Sarcevich, and nieces and nephews Luiza Kontic, Diane Mijac, Mitchell Sisak, Maria MacLeod, David Sisak, James Sarcevich and Adrian Paich. She was predeceased by her brother Danny and sister Bernice (Paich).
Helen was a loving wife to Miodrag (Mica) Stankovic (deceased), a devoted sister and sister-in-law, and a caring, wonderful cousin and aunt. She loved music, art and cultures of all kinds and greatly enjoyed singing, dancing and traveling. Her other passion was reading, with tastes ranging from novels and travelogues to cook books. Gifted with a quick and inquisitive mind, she excelled at the jobs she held in Montreal and Toronto, before taking a position at the Detroit Institute of Arts, eventually becoming the Director of Personnel, a position she held until her retirement.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Vescio Funeral Home, 8101 Weston Rd., Woodbridge, ON (www.vesciofuneralhome.com). Viewing will take place on Sunday Jan. 8, 2017 between 2 and 5 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. A service will be held on Monday, Jan. 9 at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario (www.stgeorgeniagara.com) beginning at 1 pm, with burial to follow at the Lundy's Lane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
