Juanita Hegwood Sharman, age 86, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 13, 2011, at home. A private service will be today at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles Durham officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Hegwood, and her husband, Dr. Lewis Crook Sharman.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Ringland (Adrian) of Birmingham; a son, Lewis Sharman, Jr. (Ellie) of Gustavus, Alaska; a sister, Virginia Johnston of Social Circle, Ga.; brothers, Cluese Hegwood of Warner Robbins, Ga. and Ronald Hegwood of Conyers, Ga.; and grandchildren, Dr. Sharman R. Sanders of Birmingham and Rowan Sharman of Gustavus, Alaska.

She was a resident of Capstone Village.

The family wishes to thank the caring and faithful staff at Capstone Village and Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
