I just learned of Helen's death. I was Helen's roommate at Rosemont. After she moved to Texas, we rarely saw each other, but I always have had fond memories of Helen. She was a warm, funny woman who truly cared for others. My deepest regrets to her sons and Doris.

Dear Chuck-
I just heard this news today so I apologize for being late in responding. Since leaving Houston, I have often thought of Helen and missed our many walks in West U. She was such a talented woman and a good friend. My heart goes out to you and all of your family.

To the family of Helen Van Buren:
I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Van Buren during the 2007-2008 school year at The Rusk School. In that short time, she made a lasting impression in my life. I enjoyed talking with her, laughing with her and lending her a helping hand. She was a true inspiration and will always be remembered.
May God bless you and be with you all during your time of sorrow.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Helen. I met her about 5 years ago when she taught at Rusk Elementary School. I really missed her daily early morning call to my office after she retired in 2007. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
