Henry Bridgers Obituary
Born on August 25, 1943, in Morganton, North Carolina, Henry lived a life marked by dedication-to his country, his family, and the many friendships he cultivated along the way. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 1972, a milestone that reflected his commitment to personal growth and education.
Henry and his beloved late sister Lou Anna spent their early years at Barium Springs in Troutman, NC. The bond that they developed with those many friends that became like family to them lasted all of their lives.
Henry served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. Over the course of a long and faithful military career, he rose through the ranks to retire as Sergeant Major in 2003. His service was a source of great pride and exemplified his steadfast character and leadership. Henry continued his service to the Military as an ESGR Ombudsman assisting employers and service members with understanding their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment Re-Employment Act. With 20 years volunteer service he received Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2024 in the spring of 2025.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Henry was a devoted family man. He shared 52 loving years of marriage with his wife, Kaye Bridgers. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and shared experiences. He was a proud father to Brad Bridgers and his wife Melissa, as well as Rick Cammer and his wife Anne Cammer. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Ethan Cammer, Callum Bridgers, and Maren Bridgers.
Henry found joy in travel and treasured time spent with family and friends. Among his favorite pastimes were the many rounds of golf played with his beloved "Lost Ball Open" crew-moments filled with camaraderie that brought him lasting happiness.
In continuing the love story of Henry and Kaye, he will continue to wait on her and a funeral service for them both will be announced at a later date.
May the memory of Henry Latta Bridgers, Jr. bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
