Henry Kort Obituary

Henry Charles Kort Sr., 77, of Hampton, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in UPMC Shadyside. He was born Friday, Sept. 30, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to the late Alexander and Helena (Nist) Kort. Mr. Kort was a retired contractor who was employed by the Urban Redevelopment Authority and later worked at and retired from the Tarentum Library, genealogy department. Mr. Kort was a member of the Zelienople Sportsmen's Club where he was their longest surviving member. He is survived by his sons, Henry C. "Herky" Kort Jr., of Bethel Park, John D. Kort, of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael P. (Judy) Kort, of Evans City, Robert A. (Teresa) Kort, of Shaler, and Louis J. (Heather) Kort, of Hampton; his daughters, Jane Lee (John) Cantoni, of Clarksville, Suzanne E. Edwards, of California, Pa., and Lydia F.A. Redman, of Beaver Falls; his brothers, David Hoffman, of McCandless, Ralph "Butch" Hoffman, of Spring Garden; his sister, Elizabeth "Elsie" Moeller, of Spring Garden; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James H. Kort, and five siblings. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton, www.kingfuneralhome.com, where a blessing service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Jastrab of St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment with honors will be in Christ Our Redeemer (North Side Catholic) Cemetery. Family suggests memorials be sent to Tarentum Library, Genealogy Department, 400 Lock St., Tarentum, PA 15084.
