Henry "Gator" Waller

Henry "Gator" Waller passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, November 23, 2018 at the age of 68. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Marguerite Schlesinger Waller. Loving father of Henry Joel Waller (Cynteia), Allison Maria McNeill (Sean), Shane Anthony Waller (Christine) and Garret Charles Waller. Son of the late Henry and Alice Hooks Waller. Brother of the late Henry Waller and James Waller. Proud grandfather of PV2 Henry Joel Waller Jr., Brock Harrison McNeill, Bronson Henry McNeill, Kylie Allison Waller and Ryan Thomas Waller. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives and dear friends. Henry was born in New Orleans, LA and was a true "9th Warder" where he enjoyed a 28 year career driving taxis for United Cab. Marguerite was the love of his life and was often heard saying, "It's her and I against the world." They were close, fond and true "buddies" over the years. Henry loved to share his passion for sports not only with his family and friends, but it allowed him to enjoy coaching at NORD and for the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He was a skilled softball player, adored Mickey Mantle, and his passion for Saints and LSU Football was surpassed only by the love for his grandchildren. Henry found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. He will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family, his caring and loving spirit, his laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, November 27th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Henry's memory beginning at 12:00 PM.
