Herbert C. Reds Stoudt, 81, of Emmaus, died on Sunday, January 9, 2011 in his home. He was the beloved husband of Hannelore C. (Frohner) Stoudt. The couple would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on March 31. Born in Vera Cruz, he was the son of the late Clarence H. and Stella M. (Kelly) Stoudt. He was a graduate of Emmaus High School where he played football and later went onto play semi-pro football for the Emmaus A.C. He was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War, and was a member of the Macungie VFW, Emmaus Legion and the Catholic War Vets. Herbert was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church in Emmaus where he served as an usher for many years. He was employed by Mack Trucks for 16 years retiring in 1987. Herbert was active in the community having been a volunteer for meals on wheels and was a school crossing guard at 3rd and Harrison Streets in Emmaus. He was a member of the Bishop Thomas Welsh Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Columbus Council 12886 of St. Anns Parish. Survivors: Wife; daughters, Monica Slutsky and her husband Frank of Macungie and Linda Wheeler of Macungie; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services: 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus, followed by 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Anns Catholic Church, Emmaus. Call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus.
