Herman J. Rossi Jr.

NILES- Herman "Chick" Joseph Rossi Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2014 at Whispering Pines Village. He was born on March 29, 1932 in Niles to the late Herman J. Sr. and Helen (Musilli) Rossi. Herman attended Niles McKinley High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Herman worked in the family business as an operating engineer for Herman Rossi and Sons Construction Inc., retiring after 57 years. Herman married Nancy A. Berlin on December 14, 1968, and they spent the next 30 years together before her passing in 1998. Herman was a pheasant hunter and a skeet and trap shooter. He enjoyed walks at the mall and at Mosquito Lake. He loved visiting his family and spending time with his grandkids. Left to carry on Herman's memory are his children, Sherri Rossi and Herman (Erin) Rossi III; his grandchildren, Hannah, Garrett, and Seth; and his brother, Carmen Rossi. Herman is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Rossi, his sister Anna Mae Zofko, and his brothers Thomas and Robert Rossi. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 23 from 5pm-7pm at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Funeral service will follow calling hours at 7pm. Interment will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1120 Village Plaza, Columbiana, OH 44408.
