Family-Placed Obituary

HEYWOOD MERCER, Jr. "Bo" Heywood "Bo" Mercer, Jr., 58, died unexpectedly early Monday, June 22, 2009, of heart disease. A long-time resident, worker, explorer of Palm Beach County, Bo was son of the late Heywood and Emily Mercer, and brother of the late Scott Mercer, all of Singer Island, FL. He is survived by daughters Emily Mercer Sampson and her husband, Steven, and Elizabeth Mercer Crespi and her husband, Arturo, all of Asheville, NC; granddaughters Calia, Nicole and Allison; sisters Karen in OR and Michelle in London, sister-in-law Jackie in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, three nephews, two nieces, including Marnie in Orlando, FL. Educated in law, business, and finance, Bo worked in Lake Worth, FL for Heywood Mercer Chrysler-Plymouth until its 1987 close, and then various transitory jobs in West Palm Beach, FL and coastal NC. Fun, often passionate, outrageous (or outraged) and a voracious reader, Bo enjoyed public libraries, ocean walks and wandering West Palm, engaging and helping friends and new people. A private viewing for family and close friends will be at All County Funeral Home, Lake Worth, 3-4 PM Monday, June 29. Please RSVP Wendy (561) 254-5386. In lieu of flowers, thanks for donations to Community Health Center, 2823 N. Australian Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. At 6 PM Thursday July 2, an open, informal memorial gathering and celebration will be held in Greenacres Community Park, 2905 Jog Road. I don't even know my dad, Haywood Bo Mercer's Birthday. I imagine I can track it down somewhere. Anyway, I realize that in the message I wrote back in 2009 at the time of his death (15 years ago), that I didn't even give contact information for my request that other family members reach out to me. I only have a few paternal relatives living and I don't know any of them. Please reach out if you like. I would love to hear stories about my dad's family to help me understand that part of myself.
With Love, (little) Emily

Dad- there is so much I wish I would have, could have, should have done with you. I will miss you so much. I am sorry for all the pain in your life and hope that somehow, somewhere you are freed from it all.

To any of my dad's longtime or recent friends- I would love to talk with you to hear your stories so that I can try to better understand the life of my father.

May God be with your family during your time of sorrow. It had been over 40 years since I had seen "Bo" in high school but still remember him as do many members of our graduating class from Riviera Beach High School.

With a heavy heart at this most difficult time, I pray for our family to find comfort knowing that Bo has found peace and is once again re-united with his loving parents and brother. May he forever rest in the arms of our Lord and sing with the angels.
Fondly,

Michelle Mercer
