GAMEY _ Hilda Caroline Hilda Caroline Gamey (nee Knudson) passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 30,2002 at the Bow Crest Care Center in Calgary, where she had been a resident for the last two and a half years, due to advancing dementia and lack of mobility. Born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan on September 4, 1913, she moved to Calgary in 1953. She was a hard-worker all her life, first as a farmer's wife, gardener, and seamstress, then as a construction camp cook. After retiring from Food Services at the Southern Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary in 1978, she enjoyed going dancing, golfing and playing Bingo with friends, and became a champion shuffleboard player at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kensington Road Branch. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Gamey in 1961, and her brother Hardy in 1978. She is survived by her daughter Glenora (Peter) Doherty; grandchildren, Ryan Doherty and Tara (Brian) Dong; great-grandchildren, T'ea and Matthew Dong, all of Vancouver; her sisters, Alice Stahl and Edna (Jim) Stevens in Kelvington; brother-in-law Ken (Helga) Gamey in Victoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Her family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Bow Crest for all their sensitive and compassionate care.
