Hin-Wing Siu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2012.
Hin-Wing Siu(Mr. Siu), our husband, father, and grandfather was born on 3/17/1934 and passed away peacefully on 7/7/2012. He was the beloved husband of Lai-Yuk Lam(Mrs. Siu), father of Grace and Michael, father-in-law of John and Maggie, and grandfather of Nicole and Joshua. Mr. Siu was born and raised in Hong Kong and went to school over there. After finished high school, he worked diligently for Hong Kong Bank over 40 years. He was a devoted husband, responsible father and took good care of his family. He gave up his chance along with our mother(Mrs. Siu) to improve their living environment in order to support their children to go to college overseas. As you might know, studying overseas was a huge burden financially 20-25 years ago and not many ordinary families could afford doing it. On behalf of my sister and myself, we would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our parents. Without them, we would not be here today. After his retirement, he immigrated to US to help raising his grandchildren and resided in Fremont, California since then. He enjoyed eating good Chinese food, spending time with his family and friends and making fun to entertain them. We all loved spending time with him. May his soul rest in Heaven. God bless everyone!

Grandparents are the best. They never yell at you, they never punish you and the best part is that they always spoil you. And my grandpa definitely spoiled me.
One of most treasured memory happened when I was only about 5 years old. I remember the days when I attended preschool and hearing the sound of the school bell ringing because I always knew my grandfather would always be waiting outside to pick me up. I loved having my grandpa pick me up because he would always have a tube of mentos candy in his car, and everyday whenever I would get into his car, I would always be handed a piece of candy.
This is the type of memory that only when you look back on it when you are older do you truly understand its value. As a little girl, I loved eating the candy my grandpa gave me, but I never learned how to value the moment until I got older. My grandpa did not only give me a piece of candy every day, but he also gave me a sense of security, happiness, and love every moment I was with him. Every car ride home I had with him is a prized moment that no one can ever replace or recreate.
And as my grandpa watched me as I matured into a young adult, I too watched him as he aged. One thing I noticed and greatly admired about him is that my grandfather truly knew how to seize the day. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life, have fun in whatever he did, and do whatever his heart desired whether it was playing mahjong or dancing to whatever music that was being played. He would always be able to express his witty sense of humor and he never failed to put a smile on my face.
Although he is no longer here for me to watch him dance or here to give me a piece of mentos when he picks me up, I know he is with God and in a better place. There will always be a place for him in my heart and I am comforted to know that I have him as a guardian angel watching over me in the future.
