Hobart (Bart) Cosimo Cardea passed away on August 29th at 1:48pm in Norfolk, VA. He was preceded by his parents Hobart Cardea and Faye Morey. Bart was born September 17, 1950, in Welch, WV. Bart attended Norfolk State University for drums. In 1982, he was named the best drummer in the Tidewater area. He played in many bands over the 55 years he played music, but it was playing with the lead singer in Prissi' and the IRS that would change his life forever. Bart and Prissi' married August 20, 1983. Theirs was a love of a lifetime.

He is survived by his wife Prissi', his son and daughter in law Bart and Jessica Cardea, his stepdaughters and sons in law, Jessica and Eddie Cole and Heather VanCleave and Daniel Steyn, and his grandchildren Madison and Connor, Max, Rosa, Anna, Riley, Reno, and Nola, and great grandchild Akela.

A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, September 9, at 2pm at the Bridge Christian Fellowship, located at 1116 Hillwell Rd. Chesapeake, VA 23322. In lieu of flowers, for anyone wishing to make a donation in his honor, give to lifepointhamptonroads.org/give and designate for outreach.

I had the blessing of being Mr. Barts hairstylist for years. I am so so so very sorry for your loss. I know that he is in that glorified body in heaven with our Savior. I truly looked forward to his appointments every time he was on my schedule. His love for his family, and the Lord was such a joy to be around. I can´t imagine your heartache, I´ll say my prayers for your family.

Bart was a spectacular man on so many levels. He was a great husband to my sister, Prissi. He showered her with gifts, took her on vacations of a lifetime and truly treated her like a Queen. In private she would share with me all the wonderful things he did for her and how he made her life extraordinary. He had a wonderful, dry sense of humor and had me in stitches many, many times. He was a great storyteller and made me wish I had met some of the people he did. He always had a kind and encouraging word for everyone he knew. With that said, Bart did not mince words when he felt something needed improvement or adjustment. The thing was.......you wanted to do better for his acknowledgement. I am so proud to have had Bart as my Brother-In-Law. He was a strong and faithful Man of God. I am sure he is telling some wonderful stories in Heaven. I know he is rejoicing in Heaven, but I sure miss the heck out of him here. One of the smartest men I ever met, and I hope one day I will meet my "Bart". Rest well my friend. You are loved.

Hobart was a great man. I knew this before he spoke a word to me. One encounter was more than enough and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to meet him at Lifepoint Hampton Roads. Truly an Angel on earth. Our conversation was so full of excitement, joy and encouragement. He spoke well of my son Terrell and I could tell how much he loved and adored him. After all these years he was still trying to figure out how he got to marry Prissi, his beautiful wife! We laughed and laughed but it's known they were a match made in heaven. His family He simply loved & adored. It's amazing how I learned of these things in one encounter He will be missed! May God continue to comfort the hearts of his family and friends. I love you all.
