My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Coach McCoy. I played basketball for him in his last 2 seasons at ACU. The patience and encouragement he had for me, I didn´t know could exist in a coach. He was such a wonderful blessing in my life. He gave an unrecuited girl from Las Cruces a shot to play a sport she loved; an education from a wonderful place like ACU, and experiences and memories that I will always hold close to my heart. Eating at Towne Crier before games, fishing at his house in Merkel, and him looking down at me, placing his hand on my shoulder and talk me through the mistakes I made (on and off the court)! I now take solace in knowing he is using that wonderful voice of his to sing with God´s choir and rejoicing in His presence. Thank you Coach for all that you did for me. You will be greatly missed.

What a blessing to play for Coach McCoy at ACU. He would always make sure to find a Seventh-day Adventist church for me to worship at on our road trips - even in Alaska! I especially enjoyed trying to sing base with him during chapel. His annoyed look and eventual smile always made my day. Rest easy Coach. I'll see you later.

What a blessing to play for Coach McCoy at Abilene Christian University. He always made sure to find me a Seventh-day Adventist church to worship at during our road trips - even in Alaska!! I especially enjoyed trying to sing bass w/ him during chapel. His annoyed look and eventual smile always made my day. Rest easy Coach. I'll see you later.

Coach McCoy was an interesting teacher at ACU! I really enjoyed his first aid class. I also enjoyed helping him at the "farm" office where I worked. Years later, my son and his grandson Chance are great friends. God definitely puts the right people in our lives. I´m very thankful for the influence he had on so many!

Blessed to play for and work with Coach McCoy! He was a wonderful mentor and friend. There are so many memories but nothing like going with Coach to the Towne Crier restaurant and splitting chicken strips and cheese soup. Love You Coach and hugs to Jan and the entire McCoy family.

First memory was being at church in Merkel and I got locked in bathroom. Burl rescued me. I was so scared and he was kind and patient.
