Horace Gilmore Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post on Sep. 30, 2011.
GILMORE Horace Camille Joseph Gilmore was born to Alphonsine and Hector on October 9, 1931. He was born on the family farm in the St. Colette district. He passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the age of 79. He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Angela and brother Germaine. Horace is survived by his sons, Lorne (Michelle), Kevin (Angela); daughters, Cindy (Ray) Larson, Kathy (Gary) Jacob, Crystal (Bruce) Jones, Colette (Mike) Klein; 17 grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters, Jeannine Bert and Cecile Hall; brothers, Wilfred, Leo (Joanne), Florent (Gail), Joe (Margaret); brother in law, Ephrem; sister in law, Theresa as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Horace attended Freda school and furthered his education at Matthew College in Gravelborg as well as a Diesel Mechanics course. In the 1950's he bought the Albert Stensrud farm and relocated the buildings closer to Radville. His parents helped him out over the summer months. On this farm he raised his family until he moved the family into the Radville in the late 70's. He sold the farm in 1980 and then worked as a farm laborer for the following years. Horace loved to play baseball, curling, bowling and skating. He was good at whatever he did. He was a shark at playing cards and enjoyed defeating anyone who would play with him. He had a good sense of humor and kept that humor right up to his sudden passing. He enjoyed the years he lived at the Heritage Center in Radville, continuing to play many a card games. He moved to the Marion Health Center in May of this year. A Celebration of Horace's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Laurier Cemetery in Radville, SK with a gathering to follow at the Holy Family R. C. Church Hall in Radville. Paragon Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements
