Horatio was a great friend of my family. I have fond memories of Horatio and my father and my brother and I fishing at Ramah bayou years ago. Horatio was always there after my father passed in 1987. He was also there when my mother passed in 2009. He was a great man who achieved a lot despite the obstacles imposed by Jim Crow and segregation. Notwithstanding his achievements Horatio was down to earth and never forgot his roots. Phyllis and family he is missed.

Wonderful man as measured by any standard. Among so many accomplishments was his leading the Baton Rouge chapter of The American Red Cross, an organization I later served. He gave so much to our community in so many ways that it is impossible to give proper thanks. Thank you Mr Thompson and peace be with you and your family.
