William Hendley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2011.
William "Bill" Hendley, age 69 was born on October 16, 1941 in Tyler, TX. He entered into rest on Monday, October 10, 2011 in Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evaline; pop, Pat and brother, Jim. He leaves behind his loving wife, Beverley; daughter, Julie Holt and husband Mike Holt and daughter, Jamie Hendley; granddaughters, Katherine and Elizabeth and many loving family and friends also mourning his passing. Bill served in the U.S. Navy and was a photo engraver for San Jacinto Graphics for many years before joining the Reproduction Dept. at TxDot. He retired in 2003 just before the birth of his first grandchild. He deeply loved his family as well as fishing, trips (especially cruises), garage sales and meeting friends at Whataburger. He made friends for life, never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co. with a Celebration of Bill's Life on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Co. Bill will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

We knew Bill and his family through his dad's work, San Jacinto Engraving. My dad was Sayers Walker and my mom is Dorothy. I remember going to their house and sharing lots of good times. I also remember the company picnics we loved to attend. Bill recently helped my family with a legal matter regarding my dad, he was so kind and acted the same way he always did. It reminded me how nice it is to have good friends, like Bill. We will miss him and hope to meet again someday.
God's speed,

I new Bill through working at TxDOT and running into him and Beverley at Estates and Garage Sales and then at the HHCU Barbque dinners. What a wonderful person Bill was. Always so kind and will to help anyone. A real gentleman always willing to lend a helping hand. Sincerely, Rosie Busa

Bill was one of our families great friends. We have known Bill and Jim and his Mother and Dad since 1954. They were great boys and Bill was such a kind and caring son and brother. My kids grew up with them and they always called his Mother & Dad "Aunt lean" and Uncle Pat". Saw you back in July when you lost Jim and again, our same old loving Bill. Will miss you Bill and will always remember you. RIP our friend. George, Betty Linkhart and family.
