BURMAN, Howard Cmdr. (ret'd), RCN Peacefully at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Kingston on May 27, 2006. Howard Walter Burman, beloved husband of Caroline Farrell (Seidl) and the late Constance Bennett, his first wife. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Marion (Howard) Burman. Howard is survived by his sisters, Lillian Green of Ottawa and Velma McClelland (Jim) of Trail, B.C., and brother Kervyn (June) of Campbell's Bay, Que. Most fondly remembered by many friends and family members including his mother-in-law, Frieda Seidl of Toronto. Howard was born in Davidson, Que. on October 19, 1930. In 1950, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, later graduating from the University of New Brunswick (B. Sc.) and Queen's University (M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering). His naval postings took him to several locations nationally and to the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom. During his career, he taught for a time at Royal Military College and served on several NATO committees. Following retirement, he worked as an engineering consultant. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Howard's name may be made to The Palliative Care Unit of St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, the Kingston Humane Society Endowment Fund, or the charity of your choice. (Donations should be made by cheque only please.) In keeping with Howard's wishes, cremation will be followed by a Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, June 4th, 2006 at 2 p.m. at RMC Senior Staff Mess.
