Howard Cook, 64 of Fairfield, died, Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield. The Rev. Richard White will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home. Interment will be at McDowell Cemetery, near Pleasant Plain. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com Memorials may be sent to Linda Gridley- 807 N. 10th St. Fairfield. Howard LeRoy Cook was born February 19, 1943. He was the son of Jasper and Annabell Hagans Cook. He retired from Adrian Trucking in 2000 due to health reasons. He was a member of the VFW Post Dimmitt-Vorhies Post #2271. Howard was a veteran, serving in the US Army. He was with Co. C 249th Engr. Bn. While in the Army. Howard lived most of his life in Fairfield. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his dog, Baby Girl. Survivors include three sisters, Nancy (Kenneth) Billingsley and Linda (Patrick) Gridley of Fairfield and Joyce Morkin of Palmyra, Missouri; Three brothers, Larry (Paula) Cook of New London, Iowa, John (Najla) Cook Laytonsville, Maryland, Delbert Houston of Fairfield; four sons, Howard LeRoy Jr. and Jeffrey of Kansas City, Missouri, Jasper and LeRoy Cook and Theopile Cook of Luxenberg, Germany. A step-son, Michael Howard and a daughter, Jennifer Howard of Fairfield. Also seven grandchildren, several cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Tory Cook and one stepson, Kelly Howard.
