Howard Fineman and my late mother taught school together at Churchill Area High School in Pittsburgh. Howard would come to visit his mom and my family would always see him then. He also spoke at several of my media events at the National Press Club, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and the engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania. He was a big Pirate and Steelers fan. He always said he would have loved to have been editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette but nobody ever asked him. He was an excellent reporter and had so many fascinating stories about all the presidents he covered. He was gracious and witty. His star will shine forever. God Speed Howard or as his mom used to call him "Howie.''

This is personal. I first met Howard at a birthday party he and his wife Amy had for their son Nicholas. My son Jonathan was invited as they were in pre-K/ nursery school together. You knew immediately that this was an amazing parenting duo devoted to their children and a model for me as a working mom. Let us say their attention to detail was palpable from what their children ate to their enrichment opportunities. When it was time for my daughter to go to "sleep away camp" I was reassured that I was making the right decision when I learned that their daughter Meredith had attended Camp Kohut and Amy reassured me that this was a placement I could trust. We lost touch as Nicholas and Jonathan attended a different schools but I always took a secret pride in Howard's writing and accomplishments. Yes, it was always a pleasure to read what Howard Fineman wrote, for his command of language, his analysis and what he was thinking, but most of all I always thought of him as an incredible father. May his memory be a blessing for the family and colleagues.

I always enjoyed watching Howard Fineman when he was on MSNBC; as a commentator/political analyst. His insights on politics were thoughtful and well analyzed. He displayed positivity and professionalism in analyzing current political trends, and current events in politics. Howard developed accurate political reports based on his experience and findings/research. A very respectable human being. Sympathy and condolences to his wife and family!
