Howard Dean Harless ABINGDON, Va. Howard Dean Harless, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012. Howard was a wonderful, loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was a devoted man of God who enjoyed working and singing for the Lord. He was a member of High Point Baptist Church. He graduated from Bulls Gap High School in 1960 and had served with the U.S. Army. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with all of his friends. He was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Abingdon, and was a son of the late Cecil and Gertrude Jones Harless. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Shackelford and an infant brother, Clyde Martin Harless. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Eskridge Harless; daughter, LeeAnne Sean and husband, Tommy, of Morristown, Tenn.; son, James Emmert and wife, Tanya, of Bristol, Tenn.; step-mother, Cindy Harless; sisters, Betty Birgen and husband, Ron, Mildred Hackney, and Linda Myers and husband, Howard, all of Morristown; brothers, Clyde Harless and wife, Lois, of Morristown, and Kenny Nash and wife, Sherry, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandsons, Brandon Harless and wife, Rebecca, and Shane Shackelford; granddaughter, Tabitha Akens; great-granddaughter, Cadence Harless; great-grandson, Eli Crabtree; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Robbie Coggins officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
