Howard Laursen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2024.
Howard Eric Laursen (84) was born on June 10, 1939, in Dunedin, Florida. He returned to Allah in his home in Singapore on May 12, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. May Allah accept his good deeds and grant him entry into Janat ul Firdous. Eric was a devout Muslim and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Sarimah, his brothers Michael and Keith, his children: Leif, John, Shawn, Lori, Victoria, and Kristina; his grandchildren: Eric, Elissa, Brandon, Kelsey, Jared, Tyler, Caleb, Ruth, and Rurik. He is preceded by his parents Howard and Mary, his brother Neil, and his son Paul.

Eric Laursen was a talented and skilled bricklayer and stonemason for over 40 years who took pride in his hard work. He was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Eric was generous, patient, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences; he could fix or build anything. He loved spending time outdoors, hiking, gardening, canoeing, and racing sailboats. He enjoyed going to flea markets and searching for antiques. Eric was an avid reader and lover of poetry.

Throughout his life, he cherished his family. He was always a person you could count on and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need. He was the most wonderful and caring person you could ever meet, but most importantly, the best father and husband. Eric will be deeply and profoundly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

We ask that you remember Eric in your prayers. As per the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him."
