Howland was extremely dedicated to the Al-Anon Family Groups and was very generous with his time for coffee and conversation.

I knew Howdy from my earliest days in Al-Anon, a group he championed just by his presence at meetings. He was a fine, intelligent man, an inspiration to all who knew him.
I miss him.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Howdy's passing. He was the epitome of "an officer and a gentleman." I enjoyed working with him at the WSO, and extend my prayers and sympathy to his family. Rest in peace, my friend.

My thoughts and prayers go with the family and relatives of Howdy. He was my mentor, my roommate, and best of all, my friend. We had many great conversations about life in general, and about his exciting adventures as a pilot and an Attache. Flying blind in Vancouver at night. Please let me know when he will be interred in Arlington. Kippi and I would love at attend that. [email protected].

I am grateful to have known Howdy. I enjoyed his sense of humor. I can tell you that Howdy was a combination of thinker, leader, and "let's do it." He was deeply committed and definitely engaged in being of service. He reinvented himself as a volunteer when he completed one volunteer service role, it was on to the next. I am deeply saddened at his passing. He was a true gentleman.

Howdy was instrumental in encouraging me to "lead with a servant heart". I had never met anyone quite like him! What a full and fruitful life - rest well Howdy. We've got this!
