I met Hugh and his wife while installing a new garage door opener. Very tall. I knew who he was right away. Both Hugh and his wife were very gracious with old school values. They were a delight. I suggested he write his memories in a book for publication or at least for his children and grandchildren. He said he will think about it, but it was a good idea. He told me that he was the original model for Miller's Outpost Miners 49ers poster. He said he was in almost 200 movies and tv shows some not credited. He loved his work, love his family. They are both missed. I think of them often and it reminds me to treat people with respect and like their family.

Dear Marcia & Jed, and family: I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I feel blessed to have known him. He was always so full of life and was the type of person to make you feel glad to be around him. I will always remember how wonderful he was when Susan & Marcia went to L.A. to visit and how he treated you girls to such a wonderful time. He was not only a great man in stature, but he also had a big heart. My prayers are with you and your family and may God surround you with His peace. Love, Rozelle

Hugh Gillin was like a second father to me as I grew up. Always giving advice, taking Marcia and I to places in Kansas City we'd never been to or heard of, and encouraging me to go on to graduate school. I still cherish the Tiffany pen he sent me twenty years ago for helping him win a lawsuit involving one of his TV commercials!

He was truly bigger than life itself and I'll always enjoy remembering his zest for life.

To the Gillin Family:

We here at Brighton Gardens were saddened to hear of Hugh's death. He was an amazing man whose outgoing personality and willingness to share his stories of his experiences as an actor in Hollywood captivated both staff and resident alike. He will forever live on in the movies and television series he starred in. We were so lucky to have had him here for a little while! Our deepest condolences to you all.

Tim, Mark, Marcia and Jed,

I was saddened to read of your Dad's death. His life and story was an amazing tale. It was as if I was reading a recap of our Dad's ( Bob Schwanzle) life. I'm sure you all have thousands of photos but I may have some you haven't seen. I have Mom's (BJ Schwanzle) albums and even some old 8MM home movies that have been transfered to VHS. They show your Dad and family with ours as we were young. I'll always remember your Dad as a big, jolly man. Full of life and love for his family. Tim, I'm in the book. Give me a call when you get back from Pittsburg and get a chance.

Best Regards, Rob Black
