Huntley Gordon "H.G." Davidson

Huntley Gordon "H.G." Davidson, 85, passed away December 18, 2010 at his residence in Olive Branch, MS. Gordon was born May 17, 1925 in Oxford, MS to Roy and Garna Davidson. He attended University High School and worked at Cobb's Dry Good Store. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served as a Machine Gunner until 1945. He returned home and worked as an appraiser out of North Carolina for Cole-Layer-Trumble Company, Goldsboro, NC for three years. He moved to Olive Branch in September, 1954 and opened the Western Auto Store which he owned and operated for 47 years. He retired from the store December, 2001. He was also a member of Olive Branch First Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Garna Davidson and brother, Dr. Edward Davidson. He leaves his beloved wife, Bobbie Rikard Massey Davidson of 35 years; son, Steve Davidson (Kathy) of Olive Branch; daughter, Penny Moore (Roger) of Collierville, TN; stepson, Larry Massey (Tonia) of Olive Branch; stepdaughter, Donna Anderson (Andy) of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren, Brittany Davidson, Jacob Moore, Greg Massey, and Amber Massey Steward; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Crawford (Kirby) of Oxford, MS; brothers, Howard (Dorothy), Whitt (Clara) all of Oxford, MS along with a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 and funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 both at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS with Bro. Wayne Marshall, Dr. Bill Britton, and Dr. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch. Memorial contributions may be made to Olive Branch First Baptist Church, 9235 Pigeon Roost, and/or Longview Baptist Church, 4501 Goodman Road E, both of Olive Branch, MS.
