Ian Crozier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2014.
Dr. Ian Murray Crozier
November 1, 1936- May 11, 2014
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Murray. He passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 11, 2014.
Born in Poona, India to proud parents John Crozier and Phyllis More, Murray was soon after joined by his sister Judith.
Murray will be remembered as a deeply loving, generous and passionate man. His love for adventure and curious mind led him to form friendships across many continents. His dedication to medical knowledge resulted in a long successful career as a specialist Ob. Gyn.
While studying medicine at the University of Toronto, Murray met Frances Jeckell. They shared a great love for the arts, adventure, medicine, knowledge and nature. After their marriage they were joined by children Angela (Peter) , Ian (Anna) and Carrie.
With the untimely passing of Frances, Murray later shared his love of the world with wife Lois (divorced) and the dream of Australia with wife Liz (deceased).
His loyalty to family brought him to settle in the Comox Valley where he spent time with his grandchildren Xela, Caleb, Johannes and Thia who brought him great pride and joy. During this time Murray continued traveling yearly to Australia and New Zealand to visit friends and relations including his two special nephews Mark and David.
Funeral service to be held at St Peter's Anglican Church, 228 Dogwood street Campbell River at 11am on May 19. Celebration of life to be held at the Merville hall, 1245 Fenwick road, at 1pm on May 19.

I will always remember Murray with fondness and gratitude as he welcomed me wholeheartedly into the Nanaimo "case room" team.
Murray also never failed to laugh at my jokes as I did his!
If I ever needed a "dial a friend" in a quiz show I am absolutely sure most people would have named him to be that one . His vast knowledge expanded far greater than his world of Obstetrics.
It was an honour to have worked and learned from you Murray .

Murray was a kind and gentle soul with a great gift. The man known as Murray C in our household will be missed by all. Especially those patients we treated together working in Guatemala over the years. We will always remember your kindness and incredible intellect.

Murray and I meet on Day1 of medical school in Toronto , Sept 1960. We became close friends over the years. I was the best man at his marriage to Fran in Ottawa.
We parted as we went off to intern at different parts of the country. We maintained a distant friendship, until I could not follow his constant moves. We last exchanged Xmas cards in 2012. He did not respond to us in 2013. I failed to locate him since. Over the last six months as we were planning our 50th graduation M.D.Uof T 1964. I tried to reach him but failed. I hope that he would show up as a suprise at the Celebration dinner. I had saved a seat for him at our table. On arrival at the Toronto Campus for the celebration,
to my suprise, I was graced by his other close class friends in tears. I was shocked by the news. We regrouped, and had a moment of scilence in his name. We will remember him forever.Thinking of the children

Murray was always so calm and unflappable in an emergency situation. I always loved it when he was on call as you knew things would go smoothly. The patients loved him. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

So very sorry to hear of Murray's passing.I remember him as such a happy and fun man, and always a pleasure to spend a day working with him. Loved his sense of humour.....he enjoyed "silly".....and always a good laugh could be shared. He was a very kind and caring doctor and I know his patients thought so highly of him. I am glad that I knew him as a friend and colleague.
