Ian James Hollan

I served with Ian while active duty in the CG, and later as a civilian. He was a highly knowledgeable professional, and one of those rare individuals who was always good for a laugh no matter the situation, and made the work space more enjoyable. He will be missed.

Ian won me over in 2015 with his smile, charm, quick wit, and good looks (the beard!). Through our ups and downs over the years, we always found our way back to each other. I´ll miss everything about our time together - especially the little things like his love of snacks and Reese´s, his obsession with rewatching Law & Order, The Office, and Seinfeld, his ability to memorize movie quotes, the way he quickly befriended every bartender, and the way he would slip into Boston or Irish accents. I´m heartbroken, yet forever grateful to have been part of Ian´s life. He will be deeply missed.

I was one of Ian's coaches in high school at St. Ignatius. Ian was a great team mate and a lot of fun to work with. My prayers and condolences on the loss of a great young man.

He was a kind hearted and intelligent man. Chief Hollan assisted me with my first ever presentation for my Coast Guard unit. He will sorely be missed.

I had the honor of working with Ian, I wish it were longer. He is missed, may he rest in peace in God's hands.

It feels like yesterday going to The Pub in Lakewood after a long weekend working security for the Mountain Dew Games. Ian and I were peers in the CG but I looked up to him as a friend and mentor. We stayed in touch over the years checking in and reminiscing about co-workers and long nights at Around the Corner. I´m going to miss you old friend. "Prepare to fire!"

We just drilled this last weekend and spent a lot of time talking about our time with Ian. Great stories and memories, we will miss him at IMAT but he will always be part of our team.

I will miss my friend.

Ian has been one of my closest friends for the last 20 years. A consistent source of wit, encouragement, support, with the right mix of skepticism.

I will miss his friendship, eye rolls, and the talking out of the side of his mouth like it was always a secret.

Thank you, Ian, for including me in your great big life.

My son, Jamey and Ian were dear childhood friends. I have wonderful memories of Ian growing up throughout the years. They enjoyed Space camp together. My sincere condolences to his loving family.

While stationed in Cleveland, I had the distinct privilege of serving with Ian. I appreciated his drive, intellect, and quick wit. He was great person whom I admired and he seemed wiser than most of his peers. My condolences to his family, friends, and shipmates. Rest easy, Ian.

I first met Ian in 2012; he was a true expert in his field. I remember him as a stellar worker, a great person, and someone committed to his fellow Coast Guardsmen and the public. He will be dearly missed.

I had the privilege of knowing Ian for nearly 10 years as both a colleague and a friend. I will deeply miss hearing about the latest incredible restaurants he´d discovered, his enthusiastic food recommendations, and the joy he took in sharing them. His charming laugh, quick wit, and those classic eye rolls brought so much warmth and humor during our conversations. He leaves behind a quiet space that will be hard to fill. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.

I played kickball with Ian in DC a few years ago and he was liked by all. A joy to be around. He will be missed and remembered.
