Ian Hutcheson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 1 to Mar. 2, 2021.
HUTCHESON – Ian John Fairlie. Jan. 12, 1935 – Feb. 11, 2021. I tis with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Ian John Fairlie Hutcheson on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Assiniboine Centre with his wife and children by his side. Always in the hearts of his wife Evelyn Hutcheson (nee Gilliard), daughters Pamela Hutcheson (Kerry Swanson), Roxane Hutcheson, Sharon Elliott (Ron) and son mark Hutcheson (Joelle), his grandchildren Nicholas Storozuk (Suzy Snape), Alicia Elliott (John Nostedt), Sondra Marsh (Ryan), Nathaniel Swanson (Foxx Dube), Kennedy Hutcheson, Mackland Hutcheson (Tish Carver), Peyton Swanson and his only great-granddaughter Aspen Nostedt. Hw will also be missed by his sister Lois Morris, nephews Jim (Kathy) Morris & family, Al (Sue) Morris & family, nieces Kelly Hutcheson & family, Shelley Hutcheson & family and only cousin Don (Audrey) Williams & family and extended Gilliard family. He was predeceased by his parents James & Jean Hutcheson, siblings Glen, Doreen, Lloyd and Andy Hutcheson. Ian was born on January 12, 1935 on a cold winter stormy day and died on a very cold winter day. Ian lived on the farm in Pipestone, attended school for a brief time, and then ventured out into the working world. Ian was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. He was never afraid of hard work, having fun and maybe a drink or two. Dad and mom would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on May 13, 2021. They worked hard to raise our family in a small house in Reston, initially with one bedroom and no running water. Dad added rooms, built a bathroom and basement as the family grew. The house was built with much love and maybe a few swears. Dad had many struggles in his 86 years, run over by a gravel truck, and cancer twice but this did not stop him from enjoying life and his family. Dad was known to play a mean game of 500, always a helping hand for friends and neighbours, going to the drugstore to visit with the girls, his infectious laugh and unique parting "Okay Okay bbbbye" – will always be remembered. The family would like to thank the staff a t Virden Health Centre, Brandon Regional Health Centre, and Assiniboine Centre for all the gentle care and kindness they gave dad when we could not be there. The nursing staff provided updates and helped dad with the phone so we talk with him. We are so grateful that mom and us children were able to be with him to say our goodbyes. It was difficult for his grandchildren and great-granddaughter as they were not able to see him in his final days, but they have shared their love, memories and farewell to the great man they called Papa Hutch. We also want to thank the Home Care Ladies for all the TLC and laughs shared with dad over the past few years. We are truly thankful for Roland Perrault for helping bring the mail and daily newspaper and to Steve & Carol Adams for all their love, time and never-ending assistance whenever and whatever dad and mom needed. A private family service has been arranged. When able, we will have a big celebration for Hutch. For those who so desire, memorial donations may be made to Prairie Mountain Health for Willowview Personal Care Home – Activities Department. P.O. Box 250 Reston, MB., R0M 1X0. Email messages of condolence to www.carscaddenfuneralchapel.com. Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Virden and Reston in care of arrangements.
