Ian Maynard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2022.
Ian passed away suddenly of heart failure on August 10, 2022, in Owensboro, KY at the early age of 25. He was born in Ogden, Utah to David and Sherrie Maynard.

Ian left this world just as he realized his dream of having a career that he loved and allowed him to travel and meet new, amazing people. He had a beautiful & giving soul. The light of his smile & the light that surrounded him would allow him to make so many friends. He did not judge anyone by what kind of life they chose but instead would always stop to help someone in need.

Born an indigo child, Ian was destined to search for his purpose in life, and for his place in the universe. He never stopped that search and toward the end of his journey through this life he found that his place was in the hearts of those who knew him best. His purpose was love.

He fought hard against the obstacles in his life and though his life was sometimes difficult, he always championed those around him to do better & to be better.

Ian's greatest accomplishment was being a Dad to Ollie. His family will always be grateful to Gabby for coming into their lives and bringing Ian his bonus son. They had amazing adventures together.

Ian felt that it is everyone's calling to be an organ donor. His final act of kindness helped several donor recipients & their families to find a new future filled with hope. His family will forever be proud of his decision to be an organ donor. The Kentucky Organ Donor Association (KODA) was amazing to work with and went above and beyond to provide Ian and his family with limitless respect and compassion. We do not know how to thank them enough.

Ian was preceded in death by his Grandma Willie (Wilma) Maynard and Grandpa Norm Holden. We are certain that they were up in heaven waiting with open arms alongside his beloved Shilo.

Ian is survived by his parents David and Sherrie Holden-Maynard, son Oliver Greenleaf, brother Zack (Tiffany and their children Kaleb, Weston, Oliviana) Blaylock, sister Nikki Yamasaki (Tylar) Hanson, Grandpa Dan (Maria) Maynard & so many Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. Last but not least, Ian is survived by his partner in crime and best friend, Grandma Karen Holden, with whom he had a bond that can never be broken.

A special thanks to his sister Nikki Hanson who flew right to his side, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Kentucky and their Critical Care staff, the Kentucky Organ Donor Association (KODA) and its representatives. Most of all, we would like to thank a rare man, Thomas, who stopped and took the time to check on a stranger.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree or contribute your memories of Ian to be shared at his Celebration of Life. Trees can be planted on your own, through Ian's obituary at Legacy.com, or by contributing to GoFundMe.com in "Ian Maynard Memorial Funds". Photos, videos, songs, memories, and well wishes can be sent to [email protected] for our remembrance video.

In lieu of a funeral we will be having a Celebration of Life at noon on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

David, Sherrie and family, I was so shocked to see Ian´s obituary!! He always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him. He came in to the store right before he left for KY. He was so excited to start something new but also reluctant to leave his familyHe kept me updated and was always fun to talk with. I´m deeply sorry for your loss

I love you to the moon &back! I will never understand why you left so soon. You were a light that was so very bright & had so much love to give to everyone. Not a moment goes by that I do not wonder if I could have tried harder or done anything more to save you. I love you E, and will miss you everyday.
