Ian Powers Obituary
He was born to Cathy Yuhas and Ralph Powers in New London, on Sept. 12, 1983. He lived and went to school in Montville, Canterbury, and Hanover, graduating from NFA in 2001. He was pursuing his license in plumbing.
Ian had a passion for most things outdoors, including hunting and fishing, but his greatest passions were helping people, his dog Remy, and most of all, his niece, Katherine Baker.
Besides his parents, Ian is survived by his sister, Caitlin Powers of Norwich; his brother, David Bowman of Mississippi; his grandfather, John Yuhas of East Lyme; and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Flanders Baptist Church in East Lyme.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Ian's name to The Cactus Jack Foundation/Staub Fund, c/o Chelsea Groton Bank, 157 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT 06385, Attention Ann Ogden. TAX ID # 06-1603148.
