Ian Wilcox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 10, 2025.
Ian Wilcox, 56, of Billerica, MA, and Los Angeles, CA, passed away on April 30, 2022, after a three-year battle with cancer. Ian battled cancer valiantly while trying to maintain his health, his dignity, and his sense of humor.

The son of William and Marianne (Mozzicato) Wilcox, Ian grew up in Billerica, Massachusetts. He was extremely talented and had a creative personality. Tall and lanky, he loved to draw and write and make his family and many friends laugh. He had deep curiosity for people, animals, nature and history. A willingness to listen and observe gave him a keen sense of the stories that weave life together. Ian was an amateur film maker and screenwriter. In his early years he often enlisted his friends and classmates to play a role in his movies. His portrayal of characters in the high school musicals often stole the show. Following in the footsteps of his parents, he studied Illustration at the Massachusetts College of Art.

His talents, energy, and ambition blossomed into a career on the animation teams of King of the Hill and The Simpsons before his life was cut short by cancer. He was beloved by his family, colleagues, and so many friends on the East and West coasts. He touched many lives.

He is survived by his siblings Gwen Wilcox of Somerville, MA, Eric Wilcox of Thornton, CO, and Colin Wilcox and his wife Erin, and niece Wyneth and nephew Wyatt of Sagamore Beach, MA. He is also survived by his loving and loyal la familia Carlos and Bryan DeLeon of Glendale, CA.

A combined Celebration of Life for Ian and his mom Marianne is planned for Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 2-5pm, at the outdoor pavilion at the Billerica Elks Club, 14 Webb Brook Road, Billerica, MA. If inclined, charitable donations may be made to the Billerica Scholarship Foundation for the Ian Wilcox Memorial Scholarship, 365 Boston Road, Billerica, MA 01821.
