Ignacio Elizardo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 13, 2013.
Ignacio "Nacho" Elizardo was born on May 15, 1941 in Odem, Tx, and passed away June 10, 2013, after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Juanita Elizardo, brother Ubenzie and sister Catarina. Also his parents-in-law Procopio and Loretta Botello. Ignacio is survived by his wife of 50 years (June 16) Aseneth (Chan). He is also survived by his two sons Marco, Lewisville, TX, and Homer, wife Kelly, and grand children Matthew and Marissa, North Wales, PA. Brothers Pete (Eva) and Able (Vickie) Odem and sister Delia Ybarra (Joe), Corpus Christi. Also Domingo (Jessie) and Frank Elizardo, Little Rock, ARK and Emma Molina, Sinton and Josefina Lopez, Lubbock. Ignacio was a loving husband, father and "cool grandpa" as his favorite coffee mug said. His family was very important to him. He enjoyed spending time with his sons fishing, crabbing and boating. He liked spending time at home tending to his citrus trees and chili plants. He was very energetic and started working at an early age, working Saturdays and part-time during the week at a grocery store while going to school and still participating in sports and then on Sundays working at a gas station. He started working in the oil and gas industry in 1962, in the swamps of Louisiana and worked the different aspects of the business. His job sites and travels included Canada, Nova Scotia, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, Thailand, Singapore, Romania, Italy, and throughout the US.
While working in Italy for 18 months, he and his family traveled to Spain, Portugal, Germany, Amsterdam, and England.
For the last 15 years Ignacio worked in the valley area in Mission, Zapata, Edinburgh, and Rio Grande area. He retired in 2009 due to his illness. He enjoyed his work and keeping in touch with all the people he worked with who became his second family. Most kept in contact with him throughout the years, even if it was to email jokes or a Christmas card throughout the years or a phone call on occasion. He appreciated that and each call brought back memories and stories to tell about that particular person and that particular job.

He will be missed!

Uncle Nacho

A man well traveled,
A family man, so proud to say.

Navigating life with a love for
all things of the sea,

A love for fishing, crabbing,
setting trout lines in the Gulf Bays.

Working always in support of family,
grilling, crawfish boils, and bar-b-ques, inviting everyone to his table.

A humble man we remember.

Cultivating fruit trees and chile plants, piquins, habaneros, and jalapenos when age did take its toll.

We remember a caring, loving uncle, father figure for some, always there for us.

He rests now from all of the hurt and pain, leaving us with full hearts.

On the evening breeze, we send you a deep embrace.

Your niece,
Oralia (Lali) Buentello
