Ilda F.M. Esteves, 93, died Sunday, January 8, 2023, in her home, surrounded by loved ones, after a period of declining health. Her husband of 43 years, Silvestre D. Esteves, died in 2018.
She leaves two sisters: Ana Rodrigues, of FL, and Maria Paiva, of CT; a niece, Graca Coelho; nephews Carlos Alberto and Mario Paiva and families, and Matthew Coelho, Sonya and Mark; dear friends, Eni Menezes, Roseli Ferri, Elizabeth Batista, Lilian da Silva, Jimmy-Hudson-SDA church and Pr. Paulo Vieira.
Ilda was born and raised in Solveira do Concelho de Montalegre, Portugal, daughter of Albano Fernandes Machado and Ana de Jesus Carvalho.
In 1962, she immigrated to the United States, and worked in Washington, D.C., as housekeeper to the Portuguese Diplomat. After three years, she moved to New York, where she resided for nearly 30 years, with her late husband, Silvestre. The two relocated to Hudson, MA, in the 1990’s, and settled in Clinton in 2016.
She was a devout member of the Portuguese Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lancaster.
Ilda’s funeral services and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Reservoir Pines Cemetery, Route 110, Clinton.
