Imelda Villaluna Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 25 to May 26, 2023.
Imelda Causin Villaluna was born on July 20, 1947 in Barili, Cebu, Philippines. Sadly, she passed away while on vacation there on May 7, 2023 and was laid to rest in her hometown on May 13, 2023 surrounded by family.

She is survived by her partner, Larry Broach, her children Carl Michael Jones, Mark Jones and his wife Tasha, Myra Villaluna and her husband Julian, and her cherished grandchildren, Malachi, Zuri, Mia, and Myles. She was the beloved eldest sister of 12 children - Augusto, Edgardo, Ofelo, Ulfreda, Filipinas, Casiano, Bassanio, Ernesto, Abel, Carlo, and Stephen and aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.

She left the Philippines to work to work as a midwife in Germany in 1973 to pursue a life with more opportunity and to help provide for her family at home. There, she had her boys Mike and Mark, and eventually took them to the United States. She had Myra in Virginia and raised all three of them as a single mother, often working two jobs to maintain a good life for them. She worked as an LPN and Respiratory Therapist at Lake Taylor Hospital for over 20 years and the Hampton VA Medical center for 17 years. She retired at 67 years old and finally was able to completely enjoy the fruits of her labor.

Her favorite moments were watching her grandchildren grow up and play, embracing every precious memory. Imelda's favorite recreational activities included gardening and traveling, allowing her to experience the beauty of the world and cultivate tranquility in her surroundings.

Among her greatest accomplishments, were her many travels around the world and the loving family she had built. Her life was filled with valuable lessons for those she left behind - to take tasks head on, always help others if you can, forgive, but do not forget, and the belief that life is a unique adventure to be cherished. Imelda's legacy will be one of kindness and generosity, a testament to the profound impact she made on the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life for Imelda Villaluna will be held on June 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists. Friends and family are invited to honor Imelda's life, share stories, and cherish the memories she left behind. May her spirit live on in our hearts and her legacy continue to inspire us all.

Melds, has it been a year already? Days and weeks went by so fast since you left your family, children and friends. Rest easy, your children are doing great and your grandchildren are fine. No more phone calls from you, but your memory is still alive in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Melds, take care.

You were gone too soon, too suddenly, I didn't have a chance to say goodbye, but the memories of our adventure and laughter during your visits will stay with me forever. Thank you for letting me know your children. You can rest easy knowing you did a good job with them. You will always be in my prayers.

You are missed. You left so suddenly in the midst of fun, laughter and reunion with family. Our only consolation is that your last memory was full of love and joy. Rest in Peace, Cousin We will always think of you and how you united our family far and wide. Because of you, your children are strong. Because of you, we got to know and meet family. Thank You.
