I always liked sitting next to India when she came to our BRAL (Blue Ridge Art League) meetings. She was a wonderful artist and was always glad to share her skills with others . I remember the day she sat in front of her easel and said "I can't paint well any more" with a.beautiful painting of a barn in front of her. After that, she would often come to our painting sessions with her lunch and join us in the "lunch room" just for the fellowship. I didn't get to see her new home but can picture it in my mind because she would come to our painting sessions with fabrics or paint samples so we could share opinions. She will be missed. Patty Bell

I met India at BRAWL about 3 years ago. She was an inspiration to all in her art and how she had such courage to build a house at her age . She was so excited , picking out the colors, rugs etc. It´s sad she didn´t get to enjoy it much longer . She was a beautiful lady , in all ways . Lisa Mountjoy

India was a kind, soft spoken woman while confident and self assured. I so admired the fact she ignored her age and lived her life to the fullest. She was looking forward to many years in her new home, and I will never be able to drive by it without thinking of her and the many plans she had for it. I'm so glad to have known her. India is a woman I aspire to be. Never did she look or act her age. She was a joyful member of the Blue Ridge Art League, where I came to know her. She was always humble in spite of keeping a beautiful home and garden, and making delightful art. India always loved painting barns, no doubt an influence on her new home. We laughed about being a small minority of people (we know) who like okra; and I had to plant some, too, after she had it in her garden. It will always be India´s Okra. Her presence was quiet but impactful. I will miss her.
