Inga Tuvesson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2022.
Inga Dorothea Tuvesson (Koehnen) peacefully passed away July 6th, 2022, surrounded by those she loved in the home she designed and cherished on South Point, Maryland. Born January 20, 1934, in Toronto, Canada, she shared her journey with Tuve, her husband of 65 years, children Tia (Kathy), Eric (Jeannine, Samantha, Rose), Nita, and Lars (Nancy, Beck, Doyle). Inga spent most of her early life in Miami, until marrying the love of her life, Tuve, whom she knew since childhood. She embraced marriage and motherhood as she embraced life, with a consistently courageous approach, no challenge was too big. She created a life filled with love, meaning and grace. Inga loved being in the water. Whenever possible, she could be spotted out past the waves doing the backstroke or floating peacefully enjoying the ride. Art was another passion of hers. She excelled at all mediums, partnered with Tuve on his creations and was involved with the Art League of Ocean City, Maryland. Inga left a lasting impression on those she met and was always there for you, even when you didn't realize that anything was needed. Her welcoming smile, expressive eyes, warm hugs, and caring heart will be missed. She lives on in those who knew and loved her. A celebration of Inga's life will be held in the Fall.

Tuv,

We've known you both a long time and during that time, and perhaps especially at your wedding anniversary your love and devotion to each other has been an inspiration to all.

Because of Inga's love of artistic expression and all things water, remembering our beach bonfire picnics at Assateague over the years and in view of the strength you both have exhibited throughout your lives, we'd like to share a poem by Henry VanDyke with you in Inga's honor. We think the words and the images it evokes are quite inspirational and a tribute to Inga:

GONE FROM MY SIGHT

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me - not in her.

And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying...

Rest in perpetual light and peace, Inga. We love you. We miss you.
