In Loving Memory of Inge Gaenssle

June 24, 1950 – October 5, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Inge Gaenssle on October 5, 2023. Born on June 24, 1950, in Nagold, Germany, to Oskar and Gertrud Gaenssle, Inge was one of three siblings in a close-knit and loving family. In 1955, the Gaenssles made a courageous journey across the Atlantic on a converted freighter, arriving in Nova Scotia during the heart of winter. By 1957, they had settled in Detroit, where they began building a new life in America.

Inge went on to enjoy a successful professional career, serving as an Executive Secretary at General Motors Headquarters, JP Industries in Ann Arbor, and later at Travis Pointe Country Club. She was admired not only for her professionalism and strong work ethic but also for her kindness, grace, and natural charm.

Inge was full of life - spirited, adventurous, and endlessly curious. She was the life of the party, always ready with a witty remark or a joyful laugh. Her beauty, sharp sense of humor, vibrant energy, and genuine love for people made her a delight to be around. She had a special gift for making others feel seen and valued, often through thoughtful, playful gifts chosen with care and a personal touch.

Her passions were many. She loved running, collecting antiques, and most of all, caring for animals. Her parrots, Tillie and Gabi, were beloved companions known for their intelligence, personality, and long lives. Over the years, she also lovingly cared for many dogs and cats - each one deeply cherished. Inge was, without a doubt, the kind of pet parent every animal dreams of.

A devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, Inge gave generously of her time and heart. She visited her parents weekly, always attentive to their needs, and remained a steady, loving presence in the lives of her family. Her kindness, playfulness, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Inge is survived by her sister Ruth and nieces Genevieve and Katherine; her brother John and his children Nathan and Colette; and Lisa, daughter of her late brother Heinz. She was preceded in death by her brother Heinz and his son Eric.

Inge has been laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan, reunited in peace with her loved ones.

She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. Her memory will be cherished always by those whose lives she touched.
