VON MAYDELL, Ingeborg
A resident of Vancouver, Ingeborg passed away after a brief illness on July 27, 2016, at the age of 83. She is survived by sons Arne (Cheryl) and Peter, daughter Catarina, and six grandchildren (Alex, Caleb, Lara, Rachel, Andrew, Aron). Ingeborg was born and raised in Germany, completed her registered nursing training in England (1958), and immigrated to Canada in 1959, where she started working at Vancouver General Hospital. She graduated from UBC's Bachelor of Nursing Science (1976) and UVic's Masters of Public Sector Management (1988). Throughout her life she was an avid gardener, loved hiking in the many interesting regions she lived in BC, actively read and discussed a range of topics with many of her close friends, and was an active leader and participant in several professional and social communities. She maintained and held very dear the many wonderful friends she "collected" over the decades. The family is grateful for the incredible love and support her friends extended to her over the decades, and especially in her last few months. The family would like to thank the wonderfully supportive doctors, nurses and staff in Vancouver General Hospital's Acute Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit.
